Certification is an important vehicle to recognize excellence, promote professionalism and pride, and raise awareness among employers, policy makers, and the general public that the work of Career Development Professionals (CDPs) is underpinned by competence and high-quality standards.
Currently, voluntary certification for career development practitioners is offered by the following provincial bodies:
In 2021, a cohesive national approach to certification for CDPs was developed and pilot-tested. With the active involvement and support of every professional association and thousands of CDPs across Canada, the new national certification is ready to launch pending funding.
